Having welcomed the news that the County Council was to register Warneford Meadow as a Town Green, Lib-Dem campaigners were among those alarmed to learn that the Mental Health NHS Trust had instigated a judicial review of the decision.  It will be heard in London on Thursday and Friday, February 25 and 26.

Lib-Dem Parliamentary candidate Steve Goddard has been actively involved in the long campaign by local people to preserve the Meadow from building development.  He is dismayed at the failure of the Trust to recognise that it has lost the argument and particularly appalled at the large amount of public money it is spending on fighting the Enquiry Inspector’s decision.

Judicial review looks at the soundness of the process by which a decision has been made.. The court does not generally consider the merits of the case. So the Trust is spending money on an action which it is very unlikely to win.
