I’m writing to express my concern over the proposal to commandeer a very large proportion of Manzil Way Gardens for vehicles and storage involved in the redevelopment of 205 Cowley Road. In particular, residents of the ward I represent have asked me to raise the safety issue with you.

The prospect of heavy vehicles reversing at the intersection of pedestrian routes to and from the health centre, pharmacy, mental health resources, children’s playground, mosque, and community centre is full of risks. Surely the relatively lightly-used access road to the medical centre car-park could be used with a much-reduced level of risk, and preserve more of the gardens while work is in progress – which I think the East Area Parliament was told could be two years.
