NO to late night noise: YOU win ruling against longer drinking hours

by admin on 24 October, 2013

People who live within earshot of the Bullingdon Arms on Cowley Road were alarmed at the pub’s application for longer hours.

Some of our residents attended the Licensing Panel meeting and made their views known. Graham also attended and spoke for St Clements residents.

‘Of all the issues that people get in touch with me about, late-night noise and disturbance is by far the biggest,’ he said, ‘whether it’s students trying to get their essays written, or working families trying to get their sleep.’

The upshot was that the application was refused. Police and protestors argued that more drinks served would break the area’s ‘saturation’ policy.

‘We need a tougher approach to late-night noise and disturbance,’ Graham said after further pleas for action across the ward – from the Divinity Road area to London Place.
